Big Drawers Furniture is ‘Cutting Out Cancer’ Through the Sale of Beautiful, Handmade Cutting Boards
Big Drawers owner Andy Steinberg of Norfolk, VA, is committed to raising $10,000 for the American Cancer Society through the sale of its custom cutting boards by donating 20 percent of every sale. He has lost several family members to cancer; and his brother-in-law, Steve Goldin of West Palm Beach, FL, lost his fight on June 16, 2011, with appendiceal cancer, a rare and aggressive form of the disease.
While helplessly watching his Dad’s daily struggle, Ben, Steve’s son, expressed a desire to his Mom, Erin, to help his father. That’s when Erin approached her brother Andy and their family to work on a fundraising project for the American Cancer Society. Focusing on the cutting boards, she called the project “Cutting Out Cancer.”
Even though Steve lost his battle with the disease, the family continues the fundraising campaign as a memorial to their father, husband, brother-in-law and friend.
Ben and his sister Sophia will take orders for cutting boards in South Florida. Andy, along with other family members and friends, will help them reach their goal by selling boards in Virginia, North Carolina and anywhere else that people want to help.
